Vision Behind CECA

Unskilled workforce, or those with limited training and education, actually cost more to the industry in the form of low productivity, wastages, and overall low performance of the company. So, the vision behind establishing CECA is:

Providing awareness and skills to connect education to the industry by

  • Providing competent HR to Industry
  • Waste Reduction in Industry
  • Industry competitiveness enhancement
  • Facilitation/skill development in moving towards pneumatic Automation for higher productivity

What is CECA

Center of Excellence in Compressed Air (CECA) is Pakistan’s First Fully Featured Compressed Air Training Facility. Potohar Center for Entrepreneurship Development (PCED) is a not-for-prot platform founded by Manufacturing, Marketing and Education specialists who have teamed together to create an initiative that can identify gaps in Pakistan’s manufacturing and marketing skills value chain. After realizing the fact that compressed air drives almost all the industry verticals and the applied aspects of Compressed Air are not covered in any of the university academic programs with sufficient details, PCED Partnered with National Textile University Faisalabad for establishment of first Center of Excellence in Compressed Air (CECA). Industry also has access to this industry-standard training facility for training of their employees as well as advisory services on the best performance from the industry installed compressed air systems.

CECA Support for Textile Sector

Compressed Air accounts for 70% of electricity being used by the Textile Industry in Pakistan. Due to a lack of Compressed Air Engineering knowledge in employees, most of the manufacturing enterprises are ignorant of modern techniques for lowering energy cost, reducing the cost of compressor ownership, reducing air transmission losses through modern piping techniques, etc.

Industry 4.0 and remote air monitoring has become a major contributing factor in reducing the cost of ownership of Compressed Air. The CECA facility will train the industry professionals as well as graduates of NTU, according to ISO standards and best international practices of Compressed Air Systems by addressing the following domains:

  • Compressors and its types (specifications and working)
  • Air requirement calculations and selection of compressors
  • Downstream equipment necessary for compressed air system
  • Design of compressor room layout
  • Transmission of compressed air/piping design and layout
  • Maintenance of compressors and downstream equipment
  • Remote monitoring of compressed air system
  • Air audits and leak detection in the compressed air system

CECA Partnership

Considering the importance of Compressed Air and realizing the needs of international best practices as well as opportunities for further research in this domain, a meaningful university-industry partnership between National Textile University (NTU) and Potohar Center for Entrepreneurship Development (PCED) has played an important role in the development of new products and processes, empowering young graduates with skills and building network for Professional Development by establishing a state of the art Center of Excellence in Compressed Air under the project of Asian Institute of Industrial Air (AIIA Trainings). This partnership is beyond the traditional rhetoric of discussions and talks to living examples.

This state of the art Center of Excellence has been developed with the collaboration and support of the following National & International partners including:

  • Modern and State of the art Compressed Air Equipment manufacturer by CompAir/Ingersoll Rand, Germany,
  • Aluminum piping from Parker, France
  • Remote monitoring equipment from VPInstruments, Netherlands.

Rastgar Group, Pakistan has played a major role in establishing the Center of Excellence in Compressed Air, CECA by planning and design, the arrangement of equipment suppliers through international donors & commissioning of Compressed Air System.
Rastgar Group Companies who played an active part in CECA establishment include:

  • Rastgar Air Compressors arranged the equipment, expenses and expertise for this center.
  • AirPro Technix was responsible for the design, installation and commissioning of the Compressed Air System at CECA.
  • AirAudit carried out the installation of the Remote Monitoring System of CECA and its visibility on LED and mobile screens.
  • Sakoon Pneumatics is managing maintenance and trainers at CECA.
  • PCED provided technical manpower and financial support to CECA.
